Productivity tool: Procrastination?

You wouldn't think so, but the Life Hack blog gives you seven ways that postponing or delaying actually gets better results. The two I like best are:

  • Where problems are best ignored. They use email 'quasi - spam' as a good example. Do you really need to go and beat up your friends for sending you those email jokes, poems and videos? It's just as easy to delete them and move on.
  • Where you have good back-up and support systems in place. Even though the meeting invitation comes to you as the group leader or manager, is there is someone on your staff who can handle the issues and effectively represent you? Send them and postpone your involvement until it's absolutely necessary.

Productivity tool: low tech bookmark

This Productivity tip while reading is so simple, I wonder why I hadn't thought of it. I read a lot of books for business and pleasure. Inevitably, I will read a quote that I want to remember or I will have a brainstorm on something I want to implement, research or share with my clients. Of course, my notebook is no where to be found at those times and I grab whatever piece of paper is handy to make some notes. Using an index card as a bookmark neatly solves this problem. After you've transferred your notes to your action item list, you can leave the card in the book for future reference or file it as appropriate.
