Make Time for your Bucket List

The new movie "The Bucket List" topped the weekend box office despite being panned by critics.  The movie follows stars Morgan Freeman and  Jack Nicholson as they cross off items on the list of things they want to do before they kick the bucket.

For many years, I've kept a list of things I wanted to accomplish in the future. The list has taken many forms. Sometimes it was a list of things I wanted to acquire, like a new car. At other times, it was a list of major career goals or a list of six fun things I wanted to do in a single year. I found that the act of writing them down and periodically reviewing them, helped me keep the focus on them. Coach Ramon Williamson created a list thirteen years ago of things he wanted to do before he turned 40.

As leaders it's very important to incorporate non-work related activities into your life experience. These things re-energize you, clear your mind and make space for new ideas and strategies. Create your bucket list list today and  plan to cross off at least one or two in 2008.

Here's my current Bucket List:

  1. Attend a Grand Slam tennis tournament
  2. Meet the Pope
  3. Play the Moonlight Sonata on the piano from memory
  4. Attend the Chelsea Flower Show in London
  5. Be a guest on a morning talk show
  6. See the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta
  7. Climb the Eiffel Tower
  8. Own a house on the water
  9. Start a Charitable Foundation focused on economic empowerment
  10. See the Rose Parade in person
  11. Attend the summer or winter Olympics
  12. Visit the Grand Canyon

Hey Linda! It's me! Great to see your comments are now up! Anyway, nice bucket list. I am not sure about meeting the Pope! Isn't he a bit old for you? He he!

Speak to you soon,
Hugs,

Nicky
